My current duties are as follows, 1. User support in all areas related to Information Technology within the company. 2. Network administration and management. 3. Ensuring all IT services are running. 4. Coming up with strategic plans to promote technology and growth for the campus. 5. Ensuring that communication links are up and working properly, (Links within LAN and WAN). 6. Reinforcing backup strategies for data servers. 7. Offering computer skills training sessions. 8. Troubleshoot hardware and software problems. 9. Manage users and workstations in the LAN 10. Maintain antivirus activities and ensure that antivirus is up-to-date in all workstations. 11. Create and maintain mailboxes in MS-Exchange 12. Create and manage user accounts and assign appropriate rights in the network. 13. Maintain and update the online Library databases. The above responsibilities are an important part in developing IT acitivities in the country. EXchange of data across networks is inevitable. One of my duties is to ensure that security is enhanced in the exchange of data whether through the LAN or WAN. Educating of users in how to handle data is also very important. Having a country whose people are IT literate is very important for the country's growth. That come with inbuilt networking softwares. We use Simba net as our Internet Service provider through a wireless connectivity. We have two sites in the country that we share servers, data and software with through a wireless radio. The country has incorporated fibre opotic through ISPs to enhance connectivity to the international network. Also I am asking for financial assistance to help me meet the workshop fees. My employers budget is currently over stretched, so the may be able to give little support so has requested that I try look for sponsors to assit, since they would not wish that I miss the opportunity. My organization will beneffit alot since its an institution of highjer learning. I will therefore contribute greatly to its network set up. Having qualified IT personnel in an academic institution is also good for the country since students will have their IT related issues well attended to.
